From Ideas to Impact: Reconnect with IAPT Alumni

Since 2025, Fraunhofer IAPT has been running an alumni network to strengthen exchanges between former and current employees. The aim is to maintain contact beyond the institute, exchange experiences, and jointly provide impetus for future developments.

The first in-person event took place in October 2025 at Fraunhofer IAPT in Hamburg. The program included insights into current activities at the institute with a focus on AI and, above all, inspiration from the alumni:

• Our institute director, Prof. Ingomar Kelbassa, spoke about the development “From LZN to IAPT” and current trends in additive manufacturing.
• Dr. Matthias Brück gave an overview of “Current developments in the field of AI – from digital production to social issues.”
• A panel discussion with representatives from amsight, 3D Spark, and AMPOWER focused on the experiences and perspectives of IAPT spin-offs.
• Nü people, a start-up outside the AM industry, highlighted exciting ways in which AI can be used in human resources.

The focus was on mutual exchange: the meeting provided an opportunity for professional inspiration, reunions, and new contacts.
